Yahooo! I have just created my first Open Mail app and am very excited to say that I have won the best Open Mail app prize

Taiwan had organised an Open Mail week in this week on the 16th, 17th and 18th and developers were given an opportunity to get acqauinted to the Open Mail Platform and develop some cool hacks and present them! There were also some great pressos going on!

But being based in Yahoo! Australia and being so busy, even at this time of the year, we were able to allocate one day for the event! So yeah, as always excited, me and my colleague formed a team and hacked on Y! TV-Guide app for Yahoo! mail.

We were so excited about the ease with which you could use the apis and do some cool stuff, that we were awake till 4.00am to tie the loose ends of the app and prepare for the presso! But the final moments leading to the presso are never easy, there was a server failure and hence we had to copy our webservices, css and images  across to another server and oh Javascript has not been friendly at all to me! Till 5 seconds before my presentation we had all kinds of issues like server failure, a sudden JS breaking, issues with video conferencing tool and so on!

But the actual presentation itself went quite well and our prototype of the hack worked well and yielded us the prize!  But after the presso I felt that it was the most nervous presso of my life so far! Normally I have done quite a number of presentations  and I was always comfortable with them! But this was quite a tensed, nervous situation and I am glad it ended up in a very positive way

But the best part for which I was very excited about was that, I got my first PURPLE t-shirt Yeah its true, we Yahoo!s bleed purple and we are proud of it Go Yahoo!

PS I know I dint talk much about my app here as this is not yet into production, but I will when it goes live
